İstanbul Governorship announced by 1 p.m. that 41 people have lost their lives, 239 wounded of whom 109 have been discharged in the suicide attack launched at Atatürk Airport International Terminal yesterday at around 10 p.m. Three suicide attackers also lost their lives in the attack.
The three suicide bombers detonated the bombs on their bodies after firing around, the government authorities stated.
Air traffic returned to normal by 2:20 a.m.
Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım explained that they believe the attack was launched by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Besides, the air traffic returned to normal by 2:20 a.m., added Yıldırım.
Temporary gag order has been issued as to the explosion by the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) upon demand of Prime Ministry at 11 p.m.
In the last year 229 people, in the last three years 281 people lost their lives in the attacks launched against civilians. Eight attackers died in these 11 offensives. (ÇT/TK)
