“We will take the most efficient measures against all threats concerning our border security and respond immediately,” Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said regarding the ongoing clashes on the Syrian border.
Davutoğlu said the following:
"Syria’s elected representatives of people get to decide on the questions on the country’s future, political structure and components. At the moment, it is an internal affair of Syria. However, everybody must refrain from impositions and de facto efforts until a parliament is elected. Otherwise, it might bring huge risks. New impositions or de facto situations will turn everything more fragile and engender negative outcomes.
"Of course, the current regime might be using tactics to create conflict among different ethnic groups such as Kurds, Turkmens, Arabs and other religious groups. Nobody should be inclined to these impositions and fall into pitfalls. The recognition of this imposition would even cause more intense conflicts.”
