An operation was launched into Hakkari’s districts of Çukurca, Yüksekova and Şemdinli on Saturday (December 3).
Çukurca district Co-Mayors Hilal Duman and Servet Tunç, Yüksekova Deputy Co-Mayor Adile Kozay and Şemdinli Co-Mayor Seferi Yılmaz were detained in the operation.
While the Co-Mayors taken into custody from their homes were brought to police station, it was reported that searches were carried out in the municipality buildings.
Adile Kozay was elected mayor by proxy following Co-Mayor Ruken Yetişkin being relieved of his duty on October 15, 2015.
47 Democratic Regions Party (DBP) MPs are under arrest as of December 3, 36 trustees were appointed to DBP-governed municipalities. (ÇT/TK)
