President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has lodged a complaint against Republican People’s Party (CHP) Deputy Chair and party spokesperson Bülent Tezcan.
In his speech yesterday (October 30), Tezcan said, “Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is a fascist dictator. I speak the language that they understand. He is pure dictator”.
Tezcan was present in Tekirdağ to support Tekirdağ’s Süleymanpala mayor Ekrem Eşkinat, who has been imposed a travel ban for having insulted President Erdoğan.
Campaign on social media against Tezcan
Following Tezcan’s speech, posts of insult and swear were shared on media.
With Erdoğan filing a complaint, Tezcan became “trend topic” (TT) on Twitter again.
Bozdağ: If Erdoğan were a fascist, Tezcan couldn’t have spoken like this
Government Spokesperson Bekir Bozdağ has denounced Tezcan in his speech he delivered following the Council of Ministers meeting:
“Those who are the pioneers of fascist practices in Turkey attack the President who has lifted the bans and carried out very important reforms. If there were a fascist in Turkey, Bülent Tezcan couldn’t have spoken like this.
“The only fascist party in Turkey is the Republican People’s Party. It is not possible to accept CHP Deputy Chair Bülent Tezcan’s words about President of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan”.
“Hate speech” claim by Kalın
Presidential spokesperson İbrahim Kalın in his statement on Twitter claimed that Tezcan’s words were “hate speech”:
“CHP’s Bülent Tezcan’s hate speech is a disgrace for the main opposition. This is not politics but hostility against the will of people. Legal actions will be taken into this matter”. (AS/TK)
