The ban on dismissing employees has been extended for two months starting from September 17, according to a Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette today (September 4).
The decree was based on the first and second paragraphs of Article 10 of the Labor Law No. 4857.
With a provisional article added to the Labor Law on April 16, employers were banned from terminating labor contracts for three months, as part of the measures to curb the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Employers were also allowed to put employees on unpaid leave for three months.
With a Presidential Decree on August 31, the short-time work allowance was also extended until the end of October.
The President had previously extended for a month the ban ending in July. (HA/VK)
