Diagnosed with novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and treated at hospital, two school principals have lost their lives in Turkey's Central Anatolian Konya province. The death of the principals has been shared by Konya Director of National Education Seyit Ali Büyük his social media.
According to the social media message of Büyük, Principal of Meram Dere Cumhuriyet Primary School Metin Avcı and Meram Şehit Ahmet Senih Durum Primary School Principal Atilla Ayan have lost their lives at the hospitals where they were being treated for coronavirus.
In a statement released by the Education and Science Laborers Union (Eğitim-Sen) on September 7, COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed in 172 schools in different provinces across Turkey.
In his latest statement about the reopening of schools amid the COVID-19 outbreak, Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk said that the new school year would begin on August 31 with distance education, which would be followed by a gradual transition to face to face education as of September 21 with fewer number of students in class.
