The case against Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) former co-chair and Istanbul MP Selahattin Demirtaş continued on its third day.
According to Mesopotamia Agency, over 50 lawyers attended the hearing held at Sincan Prison Complex. In today's hearing Demirtaş completed his defense. The prosecutor demanded the continuation of Demirtaş's arrest on grounds of criminal suspicion and the imputed offenses being catalog offenses and in accordance with article 100 and onwards of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CMK).
Demirtaş's attorneys voiced his demands. The court ruled on the continuation of his arrest. The next hearing is set for April 11, 2018.
Demirtaş is charged with "founding and managing a terrorist organization", "engaging in organization propaganda" and "glorifying crime and criminals". The suit initially filed in Diyarbakır province had been moved to Ankara 19th Heavy Penal Court for security reasons. It consists of the 31 summaries prepared sent to Parliament to lift his immunity.
