A court has issued a verdict of non-prosecution for Hakan Demir, the chief of daily BirGün's website who was detained over a tweet on Turkey's military operation in Syria in October.
Demir was charged with "provoking people into enmity and hatred" upon Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code.
He was detained at around 4 a.m. on October 10 and was released on probation on the same day. He was also imposed an international travel ban. ın his questioning, Demir was asked about a tweet on BirGün's official account.
Demir announced the court's verdict on Twitter, saying that "I was watching a TV series at home that night, what did this practice do other than ruining my joy?" (AÖ/VK)
