The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has prepared an indictment against TELE1 TV Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanardağ, charging the journalist with "targeting Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor Yüksel Kocaman."
As reported by TELE1, the indictment indicates that in the related news story, Kocaman is called "the prosecutor of Selahattin Demirtaş," the imprisoned former Co-Chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).
According to the indictment, the news report also says, "The moment he got married, he went to the palace in no time flat."
The prosecutor's office has interpreted these remarks as "targeting Chief Public Prosecutor Yüksel Kocaman" and referred Merdan Yanardağ to court. The Penal Judgeship of Peace on Duty has ruled that the journalist shall be released on probation. (EKN/SD)
