The court has issued its final decision in the case concerning a land reclamation project in the Altınordu district of Turkey's Black Sea province of Ordu.
Having issued a verdict of stay of execution in early February, the Ordu 1st Administrative Court has completely canceled the project and revoked a positive environmental impact assessment report for the project.
The environmental report issued by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization did not have sufficient qualifications for a scientific and technical assessment of the project, the court said in the verdict.
Also, studies about the project's impact area were insufficient, according to the court ruling.
The Ordu Metropolitan Municipality can file and appeal against the decision with the Council of State.
The Ordu Environment Association (ORÇEV), which filed the lawsuit against the project, said the municipality should learn from the court verdict and "evaluate its future projects in accordance with law and ecology and together with the public."
The association said it will release a statement for the press about the municipality's failure to comply with court rulings.
