Court arrested Dursun Patan, one of those who were taken into custody after the attack on the US Consulate in Istanbul.
According to hurriyet.com.tr, among those who were taken into custody at Küçükçekmece in Istanbul, Dursun Patan, Servet Çınar, Atilla Çınar and Reşat Anlı, taken into custody in Kars, in Eastern Turkey, were transferred to the court yesterday.
After they gave their statements to the prosecutor, authorities took Patan, Çınar and Anlı to the 11th High Criminal Court on duty, with an arrest demand against them. While the court arrested Dursun Patan for “being a member in a terrorist organization”, it released Çınar and Anlı pending trial.
Outside the court, Servet Çınar said, “I am not a terrorist. Justice was served.” On the other hand, Reşat Anlı told people not to be quick to judge.
It is stated that those in custody are part of an organization with religious motives, but it is not known yet if they are connected to El Kaide.
Authorities determined that Reşat Anlı, who was taken into custody in Kars, had visited Iran and Syria.
Attack
On July 9, three gunmen attacked the guard post of the US Consulate in Istanbul, killing police officers Nedim Çalık, Erdal Öztaş and Mehmet Önder Saçmalıoğlu and injuring police officer Osman Dağlı and tow truck driver Ferit Özcan.
