Turkey’s Higher Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) 2nd Chamber dismissed prosecutors Zekeriya Öz, Celal Kara, Muammer Akkaş and Mehmet Yüzgeç in charge of Turkey’s Corruption Probe and Bribe Operations.
The aforementioned prosecutors will not be able to perform their duties until the end of investigation which will determine whether or not they will be expelled from their profession.
Öz: It is a big honor
“It is a big honor that I have been exiled and dismissed for struggling against corruption and not letting the nation’s share to thieves,” Öz said via Twitter.
He also said that he would not yield to pressures.
Atalay: It was expected
Justice and Development Party (AKP) Spokesperson Beşir Atalay, on the other hand, the dismissals were being expected.
“Previously, there were speculations that these people were not even ‘men of law’. It is in HSYK’s benefit that they are dismissed. I don’t want to comment further on the matter.
“It gets easier to reach out these files every time there is a new development in the judiciary and police departments. We have heard and seen some many things that I hope all of them will be revealed and the culprits will face investigations.” (EKN/BM)
