Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Youth of Kurdistan Region, the 1st Contemporary Kurdish Literature Conference will be held in the capital city of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Erbil on December 19-21. The conference will be attended by several Kurdish poets, writers and journalists.
Speaking to bianet, the organizers of the conference have said that the event will start in Holî Rewşenbîrî Hall on December 19 at 4 p.m.
In the opening ceremony, four poets, including Berken Bereh from Turkey, will read their poems. From Turkey, bianet Kurdî editor Murat Bayram, journalist Ali Duran Topuz, writer Pınar Yıldız and documentary director Kerem Tekoglu will also attend the conference.
Four panels to be held in one day
Four panels will be held in the conference each day, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. bianet Kurdî editor Murat Bayram will also speak in the panel entitled "Literary Journalism."
Bayram will read out excerpts from his book "Belkî îşev binive" (Maybe Tonight She will Sleep), where he has shared his observations regarding what happened during the period of curfews in 2015 and 2016 in Sur, Lice and Silvan in Diyarbakır, in the city center, Cizre and Silopi in Şırnak and in the district of Nusaybin in Mardin. Based on these excerpts, Bayram will move on to share his views on "literary journalism".
In another panel, Pınar Yıldız, who writes books in the kirmanckî (zazakî) dialect of Kurdish, will talk about works performed in this dialect. Also, documentary film director Kerem Tekoglu will screen his film. (FD/SD)
