It has been announced that 21-year-old Muhammed Altuğ, who was doing his mandatory military service in Lice district of Turkey's southeastern province Diyarbakır, has lost his life after he was shot by a bullet that was accidentally fired from the rifle of another soldier.
Residing in Süleymanbey Neighborhood in central Yalova, Altuğ's family was informed about the death of their son by state officials.
In a written statement released by the Governorship of Yalova, it has been indicated that Altuğ was wounded by accident, he was referred to Selahaddin Eyyubi Public Hospital by helicopter after being treated first at Lice Public Hospital, but he could not be kept alive despite all medical interventions.
The deceased body of Muhammed Altuğ will be put to rest after a funeral ceremony to be held in Yalova Air Command at 3.30 p.m. today.
As reported in the press, the mandatory military service of Altuğ would end five days later and he was preparing to get engaged. (EKN/SD)
