A conflict erupted between the security forces and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in the rural area of Körseli Village in Silopi in Turkey's southeastern province of Şırnak yesterday (August 21). While three soldiers have lost their lives in the conflict, one soldier has been wounded.
26-year-old deceased gendarmerie specialized sergeant Ayhan Yanık will be laid to rest in Adıyaman, 28-year-old specialized sergeant Mehmet Uçar will be laid to rest in Hatay and 27-year-old specialized sergeant Muhammet Ferdi Güntekin will be put to rest in Erzurum today.
The deceased bodies of the late soldiers were sent to the their hometowns from Şırnak Şerafettin Elçi Airport after a funeral ceremony held at the Şırnak 23rd Infantry Division Command yesterday. (EKN/SD)
