Losing her life two years ago, Boğaziçi University, Department of Sociology academic member Prof. Dr. Ferhunde Özbay will be memorialized with a conference to be held tomorrow (March 9) at Boğaziçi University.
The conference to be held at Kriton Curi Seminer Room at 9:30 a.m. has the title "1st Ferhunde Özbay Memorial Conference: Family, Marriage & Women's Employment in Turkey".
Özbay contributed in feminist fields of population sciences, migration, family, domestic labor and social history.
About Ferhunde Özbay
Özbay was born in 1944 in Ankara where her childhood passed. She graduated from Social Services Academy. Özbay completed her Master’s degree at Hacettepe University and her PhD at Cornell University in the United States.
She was among the founders of Improving Women’s Employment Initiative (KEİG).
Özbay had two articles titled “Population Engineer from 1930s to 2012” and “Adoption Practices Triggered by Cherkess Migration” published on bianet. (PT/TK)
