Held for eighth time this year, IPS Communication Foundation’s From School to Newsroom (OHO) program organized in Kadir Has University has ended with a cocktail and certificate ceremony.
OHO 2014 participators, 36 journalist candidates from 33 communication faculties throughout Turkey and North Cyprus, received their certificates in the final meeting which is held in Karaköyüm Restaurant with the accompany of program educators and bianet group.
“bianet needs you for defending journalism for human rights, so you are needed for it,” said BİA Project Coordinator Evren Gönül in his speech and then the certificates were distributed to participators.
Certificates are submitted by Sevda Alankuş (Dean of Communication Faculty at Kadir Has University), Prof. Dr. Özden Çankaya (Communication Faculty at Galatasaray University), Füsun Özbilgen (academic at Communication Faculty at Galatasaray University, Nadire Mater (Chairperson of IPS Communication Foundation and bianet Project Advisor), journalist Tuğrul Yılmaz, Alper Gedik (academic at İzmir University of Economics), Altuğ Akın, Assistant Professor Burak Doğu, academics and Mahmut Çınar, Füsun Erdoğan, and Mustafa Sütlaş (academics at Bahçeşehir University).
OHO participators delivered short speeches and told their experiences and impressions in OHO program.
Having thanked to bianet group and others contributed to the organization, the participators emphasized importance of information they gained about human rights centered journalism. They also added that their experience in OHO before starting working as a journalist is a great advantage for them. (MF/EA/MUY/BM)
