One worker lost their life, and six others were injured as a result of a collapse in the coal mine of the Turkish Hardcoal Enterprise (TTK) Armutçuk Facility in Karadeniz Ereğli. The collapse happened as a result of the roof collapsing at a depth of -450 meters in the mine which is located in the Kandilli district of Karadeniz Ereğli.
According to information provided to bianet by TTK sources, there were 13 workers working at the production point in the mine where the collapse occurred, with 4 of them trapped under the debris. So far, one worker has been rescued.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, one worker trapped under the debris lost his life, and three workers were rescued with injuries.
Statements from Health Minister and AFAD
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, in a tweet, stated, "One person lost their life due to the collapse. We have 6 injured. The injured have been transferred to the hospital."
The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) stated in its announcement that the collapse in the Armutçuk mine occurred around 13:45, with workers trapped under the debris and numerous teams were dispatched to the scene.
Governor: "We are in communication with the three workers"
Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu, participating in a live broadcast on 24 TV, announced that four workers were trapped under the debris, one worker has been safely rescued, and efforts to rescue the other three workers are ongoing.
Hacıbektaşoğlu stated, "We are in communication with the other three colleagues. It is not a major collapse. There is no gas explosion. We will reach our injured workers as soon as possible." (VC/PE)
