15 foundation universities have been closed the first statutory decree enacted in the wake of the July 15 coup attempt.
The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has announced the public universities where the students of the closed 15 foundation universities by the statutory decree.
Four students interviewing to bianet mentioned the issues such as not having their departments at the universities, not having the same facilities, change in language of education, being placed at universities whose scores are lower.
They also voiced their concern of being exposed to pressure.
15 of the 193 universities have been closed
There are 109 public, 76 foundation, and eight foundation vocational school making 193 universities in total. The YÖK has closed 15 universities.
64,533 students will be re-placed
The total number of students at all universities is 6,689,185.

The number of students per academic member rose to 26 from 20
There were no students at the Kanuni University since education term didn’t start.
There were 64,533 students and 2,805 academic members at the remaining 14 universities. There were 23 students per academic member.
There were 652,116 students and 26,910 academic members at the 14 universities at where the students are placed.
The number of students will rise to 716,649 with the placement. Thus, there will be 24 students per one academic member. This ratio will increase more with the suspended academic members.
