Improvised explosive device planted on the manhole cover has been detonated during the passage of armored police vehicle on 10th Street in Turkey’s southeastern Silopi district of Şırnak province. Four people wounded, 19 others of whom five are police wounded.
Şırnak Governorship has announced the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) as perpetrator of the attack.
“Four of our citizens have lost their lives, six others heavily wounded. Five police officers and eight citizens have been lightly wounded”, said the Governorship in its statement.
Operation has been launched in the area following the incident. The civilians are not being allowed in the area.
Bodies will be delivered tomorrow
According to the report of the state-run Anadolu Agency, İsa Torlak (68), Ekrem Birlik (52), Davut Yoksul and Halime Birlik (4) lost their lives.
Dicle News Agency (DİHA) reported that the explosion occurred near the Bilen Halı Saha up in the Sefa Petrol (Sefa Oil) on historical İpekyolu road, and 22 people injured in the incident.
Doğan News Agency reported that the incident took place at 7:15 p.m., security measures have been taken around the State Hospital into where the wounded have been taken.
The bodies of those killed in the explosion will be delivered to their families following the autopsy procedure.
There is a 6-month baby in severe condition among the wounded.
The wounded have been taken to Silopi State Hospital. (AS/TK)
