Republican People’s Party (CHP) Group Deputy Chair Özgür Özel joined the “Ne Oluyor?” (What is Happening?) program hosted by Şirin Payzın on CNN Türk. Özel asserted an important claim about Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu.
“He was discharged from the Democrat Party”
Touching upon the alleged link between Soylu and the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), Özel said, “I declare here for the first time. The discharges over FETÖ have been debated a lot in the recent days. So, when was the first discharge? One might say July 17, 2016 but no.
“The first person who was discharged over FETÖ is Süleyman Soylu. He was discharged from the Democrat Party”.
“He is after forgiveness for his personal record”
CHP’s Özel continued: “Süleyman Soylu was elected chair in January 2008. In the following period, he was discharged from the Democratic Party”.
“The justification was that he advocated ‘yes’ instead of ‘no’ in the September 12, 2010 referendum despite the party decision. He is the first politician who first the party presidency post and then was discharged for cooperating with Fethullah.
“He was discharged over the FETÖ and now he is after forgiveness for his personal record…” (PT/TK)
