Republican People’s Party (CHP) MPs did “pace up and down” protest in support of Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça, who were arrested yesterday (May 23) after being detained.
The MPs weren’t allowed to enter the area of protest carried out by academic Gülmen and teacher Özakça, who were suspended from civil service through the statutory decree and have been on hunger strike for 77 days to be reinstated to their jobs.
Thereupon, CHP MPs Ali Haydar Hakverdi, Sezgin Tanrıkulu, Eren Erdem, Ali Şeker, Veli Ağbaba, Murat Emir, Hilmi Yarıyıcı started to pace up and down in front of the police blockade.

In a statement delivered, the MPs said that Turkey has been turned into a semi-open prison during the Justice and Development Party (AKP) governing. (HK/TK)
* "Pace up and down" means a prisoner walking back and forth in a prison yard.
