While the bill of law foreseeing amendments to the Attorneys' Act was being debated at the Parliamentary Justice Commission yesterday (July 2), Republican People's Party (CHP) İstanbul MP Mahmut Tanal was taken to hospital after feeling unwell. He has tested negative for COVID-19.
While the debate was still ongoing, Tanal told other MPs that he was sweating and his throat was aching. Hearing this, CHP Group Deputy Chair Özgür Özel and a group of MPs took him to the sickroom of the Parliament so that he could be tested for novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Tested for the virus and examined by the physicians there, Mahmut Tanal was then taken to a hospital in an ambulance. The chair where Tanal was sitting at the Commission was disinfected afterwards.
Returning to the Parliament from the hosptial, Tanal has said that his test for the virus has turned out to be negative.
A worker of Meclis TV has tested positive
On the other side, the Parliamentary Speaker's Office has also released a statement and announced that a worker of the Meclis TV, the official TV channel of the Parliament, has tested positive for the virus.
Indicating that around 600 tests were conducted yesterday, the Office has noted that the general health condition of the worker who has tested positive is good. It has also warned that those who were in contact with the related person should also be tested for the virus. (HA/SD)
