Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has visited imprisoned CHP İstanbul MP Enis Berberoğlu, who was arrested on charge of “espionage” over MİT Trucks coverage, in Maltepe Prison.
Expressing that arrest of Berberoğlu was a wrong decision, Kılıçdaroğlu said “There is a saying ‘Justice walks slowly but eventually reaches its target’. We believe that justice will be eventually achieved”.
Kılıçdaroğlu came to prison at around 10:50 a.m. Staying inside for around 2 hours, Kılıçdaroğlu made a statement following the visit.
Kılıçdaroğlu briefly said:
“We’ve visited our MP Enis Berberoğlu. He is in good spirits writing his memories. It is really painful to see this fact on site. I’ve seen that justice has been imprisoned. Sending innocent people who have nothing to do with terrorism inflicts deep wounds in society’s conscience. Mr. Enis is one of those examples.
“He has practiced journalism for many years. He served as editor-in-chief at one of Turkey’s biggest newspapers. He sends his greetings to all his journalist fellows. There is a saying ‘Justice walks slowly but eventually reaches its target’. We believe that justice will be eventually achieved”. (EA/TK)
