Peace declaration
Chomsky as he himself a signatory of the declaration entitled “We will not be a party to this crime” touching on pressure imposed on academics signing the declaration said, "The leading prominent writers, artists, journalists, publishers, academics are openly, constantly not only protesting crimes of the government which is rare enough but are actually involved in direct civil disobedience against them facing sometimes enduring pretty serious punishment. There is nothing like that anywhere in the world that I know practically nothing in history like it. It’s a unique phenomenon, which Turkey ought to be very proud.
"Besides, they at the same time switch directly to civil obedience, which is rarely seen, and have to endure serious penalties. This is a unique situation and Turkey must be proud of it. Those who sign the peace declaration are an example of it”. (HK/TK)
