Zarok TV, a children's channel in Kurdish, will start officially airing on March 21 - the Newroz Day. Previously, the channel was having a test run.
The channel is expected to air children’s programs in Kurdish language’s Kurmanji, Zazaki and Sorani subdivisions.
“Kurdish children will be able to watch major children’s shows such as The Smurfs, Sponge Bob Squarepants, Gumball and Adventure Time in Kurdish,” Zarok [which means child in Kurdish] TV announced:
“By the help of Zarok TV children will discover their own first language, they will be able to learn everything in their own first language about the universe and life as well as experimenting them by using material that they have at home.
“The main aim of Zarok TV’s broadcasting policies is to create a world full of information in children’s first language and entertain and take their interest from history to philosophy,” the channel said. (YY/BM)
