15-year-old Mahmut Gül, the apprentice of an auto mechanic, lost his life after the motor of an old vehicle that he was working on fell on him.
As reported by the Health and Safety Labor Watch (İSİG), Mahmut Gül graduated from the secondary school and got enrolled in the Güzelyurt Occupational High School in Northern Cyprus.
The deceased body of Gül was taken to the mortuary of the Lefkoşa (Nicosia) Public Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
As reported by Yeni Düzen newspaper, Mahmut Gül's family came from Adıyaman to Cyprus years ago; while his father is a shepherd, his mother is reportedly working as an agricultural worker.
Child run over by tractor
In another incident in Turkey's southeastern province of Bingöl, a 14-year-old child was run over by a tractor and lost her life.
As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), Helin Ö. (14) jumped from the combine harvester that his father was operating.
Run over by the vehicle underway, Helin Ö. was severely wounded and taken to the Karlıova Public Hospital by the paramedics. Referred to the Bingöl Public Hospital after the first medical intervention, Helin Ö. lost her life despite all efforts. The deceased body of Helin Ö. was sent to the mortuary of the Bingöl Maternity and Children Hospital. (AÖ/SD)
