Behind bars on another charge, Ümitcan Uygun, the chief suspect of the death of Aleyna Çakır, has been released from prison.
Sema Esen, who is known as Aleyna Çakır, was found dead in her house in the capital city of Ankara last year. While Uygun is the chief suspect of her suspicious death, he was arrested for "inciting drug use."
After his video showing him doing drugs was revealed, Uygun was detained on January 10. Standing before the judge, he was arrested for "using drugs and psychotropic substances and publicly inciting their use."
Ümitcan Uygun's lawyer appealed against his arrest. Behind bars for nearly 6 months, Uygun has been released by the ruling of the Ankara 1st Penal Court of Peace. His release has been announced by his lawyer Çağatay Cengiz on social media. Cengiz has tweeted, "Unlawfully arrested for 6 months, my client Ümit Uygun has been released."
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has also released a statement about the release of Ümitcan Uygun, who was arrested after he posted the video showing him doing drugs on social media. (RT/SD)
