The students of Karagümrük High school, class 6-D in Fatih district of İstanbul are not pleased with the price of their school trips.
Mentioning that some of their friends can not join the school trips due to high prices, the students ask the school administration to make new arrangements in order to make the school trips affordable for everyone.
To their question, what could be done to make these trips arranged four times a year, affordable for the ones with weaker financial situations, they have received the response from the school counselor, that students and teachers could collect some money in a box to help the others.
Students, finding out through the school counselor that the school principal and the contact persons from the locations to be visited act together in setting the price for the trips, request the contact persons to lower the prices or arrange such trips according to the budget of each student.
Associating the information that every student would have the right to join such trips according to Article 31 of the Convention on the Rights of the Children with the current situation at their school, the students have stated that every student had the right to join school trips and these trips should be free of charge or affordable for everyone.
