Verdict of non-prosecution has been issued on criminal complaint filed by 24 people including five children over “willful injury” and “crossing the line in use of force”. They were detained after being battered.

Prosecutor İsa Dalgıç expressed in his non-prosecution verdict that there was “no footage” in police station.
However, since 19 days passed as of the day of the incident, December 20, 2015, till the prosecution made its decision, it is understood that the station didn’t keep the footage for 20 days.
Decision based on police report rather than forensics report
The verdict also includes report of İstanbul Medicine Forensics Directorate stating the complainants were wounded in a way that requires simple medical response.
The prosecutor Dalgıç expressed that he took police report into consideration and interpreted testimony of the complainants as “abstract allegations”.
Child under custody was referred to neurosurgery
24 people detained while trying to distribute Yürüyüş magazine in Şişli had explained that police hit their heads and stepped on them, and that made them listen to anthem and beat them up for hours.
“M.M.D. below 18 was referred to neurosurgery due to blows he received in the head. He was later taken to Şişli Juvenile Bureau Directorship. He was taken to a doctor after staying there for hours”. (AS/TK)
