Attack has been launched on Gendarmerie Battalion Commandership located 1 kilometer away from Turkey’s southeastern Dicle district of Diyarbakır province.
The attack launched by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members, a specialized sergeant killed, according to the General Staff’s statement.
21 people including employees in charge and their relatives one of whom heavily injured in the attack, which took place last night (May 1) at around 9:50 p.m.
The attack has inflicted serious damage on the commandership and its lodgings. The damage has been covered by flag and fabric.
Some houses’ windows broke in the district central.
Conflict erupted following the explosion. As the conflict went on, a large number of ambulances and armored vehicles with military reinforcements were dispatched to the scene.
The General Staff in its statement said that the wounded have urgently been taken into hospital for treatment.
Broadcast ban on the attack
Broadcast ban has been imposed on the news as to the attack.
The statement made by the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) Press and Public Relations Consultancy, expressed that Dicle Criminal Judicatory of Peace ruled ban of all sorts of broadcasting such as news, reports, interview, criticism until the investigation is completed.
Fire opened from vehicle
Security forces wanted to stop a vehicle on Dicle-Hani highway following the explosion.
One judge and three police officers wounded resulting by the fire opened from the vehicle, those in the vehicle have escaped.
Air-supported operation has been commenced in the region. (AS/TK)
