Vice Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson Bekir Bozdağ held a press conference following the Council of Ministers meeting held last night (January 17).
Stating that they discussed the National Security Council’s advisory decision to extend the State of Emergency (OHAL), Bozdağ announced that the OHAL will be extended for another three months:
“The mandate prepared about this matter has been send to the Speakership of Grand National Assembly (TBMM) of Turkey. As result of the discussions to be carried out TBBM General Assembly, the OHAL will have been extended for three more months”.
“Turkey will do anything to remove threats”
In response to a journalist question about what sort of steps will be taken to “parry the threats directed towards Turkey from western Syria”, Bozdağ responded:
“In the recent day, efforts to form a terrorist army under the name of ‘Syrian Border Security Force’ become more clear.
“Both a terror corridor being formed and a terrorist army being built under the name of border safety for the security of this corridor is an obvious threat in terms of Turkey’s territorial integrity, border security, safety of our citizens’ life and property, and national security.
“When perpetuity of Turkish nation and State of Turkey is at stake, Turkey will do anything in its power to remove those threats without hesitation. (AS/TK)
