Six people including a police officer killed, 39 others wounded in the attack launched by bomb-laden vehicle by Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on Çınar Security Directorate in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakır.
Those killed in the explosion have been identified as Lokman Açıkgöz in the house collapsed, 5-year-old Sadık Efe Açıkgöz, 1-year-old Ecrin Açıkgöz, a woman in lodging building collapsed and a 5-month-old baby. The person pulled off the wreckage has been identified as a police officer.
"Windows came down on us"
Sıtkı Dinç whose house has been damaged in the attack spoke to state-run Anadolu Agency reporter and said some walls of his house have demolished: "It was like an atom bomb fell from the sky. Windows came down on us in an instant. Thanks to god no one in my family got hurt".
Governorate: 39 people wounded
Diyarbakır Governorate has announced that two police relatives residing at lodging building, and three citizens trapped under the wreckage have lost their lives in the bomb attack.
"A building near the lodging building has ruined by the explosion. Three citizens pulled dead, five others wounded from the wreckage as a result of operation launched into the building by search and rescue teams".
39 people including six police officers and eight police relatives have been wounded, the statement added.
While the security directorate building and lodging buildings have suffered heavy damage, two-story house next to them has collapsed.
Following the attack, police, military, ambulances, Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), General Directorate of Emergency Health Services (UMKE) units have been deployed to the scene.
The attack took place last night (January 13) at around 11:30 p.m., fire opened by long-barreled weapons on Gendarmerie Commandership in Çınar district.
"While fire squad extinguishes fire at security directorate building and lodging building, the wounded have been taken into Military Hospital in Diyarbakır, State Hospital and Dicle University Medical Faculty Hospital.
Doctors in the city have been urgently called for duty. (NV/AS/TK)
