Body of Infantry Sergeant Major Ahmet Şahin (26), who has been killed during Operation Euphrates Shield launched by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and Free Syrian Army (FSA) into Syria, was sent to Afyonkarahisar’s Çay district this morning (December 8) following a funeral in Antep province.
Şahin had lost his life in an attack launched by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) with a bomb-laden vehicle near the city of Al Bab.
13 soldiers wounded in an offensive yesterday have been taken under treatment in hospitals in Kilis and Antep provinces.
19 soldiers have been killed
12 soldiers were killed in rocket and mortar attacks carried out by ISIS on the regions of Jarablus, Al Rai and Al Bab during Operation Euphrates Shield launched on August 24, 2016.
The TSK announced that one soldier lost his life resulting from an accident.
Three more soldiers were killed in an airstrike launched against TSK troops near Al Bab on November 24. The TSK announced that the attack was launched by Syria but Russia stated that the attack was launched by neither Russia nor Syria.
Since November 24, three more soldiers lost their lives in the clashes against ISIS. (AS/TK)
