The bag law draft, which also introduces paid military service, has been approved by the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and become a law.
The initial draft, which foresaw that the ones who were born before December 31, 1993 could benefit from the paid military service, has been amended and the related date has been changed to January 1, 1994. With this amendment coming into force, approximately 10 thousand more people will be allowed to do a paid military service.
Under the new law, the ones who were born on and after January 1, 1994 can benefit from the paid military service on the condition that they pay 15 thousand Turkish Lira (approx. 2650 Euro) and receive a 21-day basic military training. The initial law draft foresaw the duration of the military training as 28 days.
While the people living abroad can benefit from the paid military service on the condition that they pay 2 thousand Euro and receive the distance military training provided by the Ministry of National Defense, convicts can also do a paid military service by submitting an application in three months after the law comes into force.
