Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Spokesperson, Ayhan Bilgen has made remarks on the party's Van MP Tuğba Hezer’s participation in condolence of Abdülkadir Sömer who launched the bombed attack, which left 29 people dead in Ankara.
Bilgen said, “Funeral is pain for those left behind, you cannot be the partner of things being said in the funeral. Sharing the pain of the ones left behind without considering their identities doesn’t mean approving it”.
Bilgen speaking to RS FM expressed the following on those reacting against Hezer visiting the family’s house to express condolence.
“One should look at the matter over the psychology of those left behind. The matter shouldn’t be handled like approving the attack, being insensitive to pain of those in Ankara.
“We share the pain of families of the deceased without looking at their identities. We approach the matter within context of human rights. The reason why our friend is there is about sharing pain and why these people head to death so easily.
“Trying to understand attitudes adopted by anger never comes to mean of approving it. you cannot be the partner of things being said in the funeral.
“If we are really bothered by killings, if we don’t want soldier, police, civilian, Kurdish youngsters to die, if we don’t want 4-year-old child in Ankara, 3-month-old children Diyarbakır’s Cizre to die, then we have to be insistent on peaceful solutions of these problems”.
Investigations into Hezer
HDP Van MP Hezer has faced two investigations launched on charge of "propogandizing for terror organization".
State-run Anadolu Agency reported that Van Public Prosecution Office has launched two seperate investigations into Hezer on charge of "propogandizing for terror organization" for visiting tent of condolence on February 21, and her speech following the march on February 15, the anniversary of bringing Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan to Turkey.
If the Public Prosecution rules that the charges pressed on Hezer constitute legal crime, it will demand parliamentary immunity of Hezer be removed on the basis of Article no.83 of the Constitution, and the summary of proceedings will be referred to the Ministry of Justice to be referred to Speakership of Parliament, added the agency.
