Participants have discussed ways to improve human rights oriented journalism and the job opportunities in this field in the meeting, where they have evaluated bianet’s human rights oriented journalism as well as putting bianet forth as an example.
Organized annually by bianet, the round table meeting of Human Rights Oriented Journalism took place on Saturday in Istanbul under the moderation of Ayça Söylemez (bianet Human Rights Editor) with the participation of 16 people from 10 non-governmental organizations.
At the same time, participants who mentioned their works at human rights field have shared the positive and negative points they saw in bianet’s human rights oriented journalism.
Representatives of human rights organizations, who stressed that bianet pays attention to delivering the invisible-in-media news about violation of rights, emphasized how bianet must improve its relationship with local media and create the agenda itself rather than following it in order to deliver different views to the reader.
"bianet should improve its relationship with human rights organizations and benefit more from local sources,” participants concluded at the end of the meeting.
