Second hearing of trial of Republican People’s Party (CHP) İstanbul MP Enis Berberoğlu, Cumuriyet daily newspaper Representative to Ankara Erdem Gül and journalist Can Yücel was held at İstanbul 14th Heavy Penal Court.
Declaring his dictum, Chief Public Prosecutor Mehmet Yeşilkaya demanded from 7.5 to 15 years in prison for Berberoğlu, Gül and Dündar on charge of “knowingly and willingly aiding a terror organization”.
Chief judge Ali İhsan Horasan and member judges Arif Atanıan and Sonat Güvenç ruled the hearing to continue on January 24, 2018.
Files of Aydınlık workers were seperated
Cumhuriyet daily reported that lawsuit on MİT (National Intelligence Agency) Trucks brought against Aydınlık newspaper and the lawsuit on “aiding FETÖ (Fethullahist Terrorist Organization)” brought against Dündar, Gül and Berberoğlu were combined by İstanbul 14th Heavy Penal Court.
Upon the objection raised by Berberoğlu’s lawyers, case of Aydınlık newspaper workers İlker Yücel and Ceyhun Bozkurt were separated.
Yücel and Bozkurt face from 5 to 10 years in prison on charge of “revealing state’s confidential information”.
Berberoğlu face lifetime imprisonment on charge of “revealing state’s confidential information for political and militaristic purposes”.
The trial of Berberoğlu will continue on January 16. (EKN/TK)
