Urfa Metropolitan Municipality put beggar kids most of whom were Syrians in former Department of Municipal Police building.
According to the news from Ruha Channel of Urfa province (in Southeastern Turkey), children in jail wanted help from people around while Municipality policemen were waiting in the garden.
Children took food and drink from the people who helped.
Municipality only mentioned the building
After the news spread, Urfa Municipality only mentioned about the former building and stated that there were iron bars in the building due to protection:
“Aforementioned building in Urfa Historical Eastern City Walls, was being used as Department of Municipal Police. Now, it is being used as Local Directorship of Municipal Police. Aforementioned iron bars are there because of the protection of the historical walls.
Özçınar: We turn the children to their families or Syrian refugee camps
Assistant Secretary General of Urfa Metropolitan Municipality told: “If the kids are Turkish, we turn them to their families. If they are Syrians, we turn them to the refugee camps or Governorship.
We will keep struggling against the beggars in each part of the city and we will reveal the abusive families of the beggar children from now on.” (YY/BD)
