“This is one of the pictures that led to the closure of our Facebook page” said Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Youth Assembly.
“Facebook insists on its ban mentality which recently manifested itself again. They closed down BDP Youth Assembly.”
The statement claimed that Facebook removed all photo content from BDP Youth Assembly’s 1st Congress held in Amed (Diyarbakir) on October 30.
Facebook allegedly reasoned the removal due to “flag-like Abdullah Öcalan posters” and “visual content that don’t even contain any suitable condition according to their standards.
“Whatever photo we put on Facebook. it is safe to public in Turkey’s media. And it certainly does,” the statement said.
“Therefore, the removal of such content is only the praising of the king. It is outdated. Both cases are problematic for Facebook.”
Calling Facebook’s attitude a “censure”, the assembly said such rules were away from the realities of Turkey and Kurdistan’s peoples and it was outdated.
“Facebook must update itself with a democratization reform.
“Just like in the case with “daily oaths, headscarf struggle, defense in mother tongue, briefly like every aspect of life, social media will also live in the reality of actual life. We will run our new Facebook page according to this principle.” (YY/BM)
