Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court ordered the release of jailed BDP deputies Gülser Yıldırım and İbrahim Ayhan after a recent constitutional court ruling.
This morning, jailed deputies’ attorneys applied to the court after Turkey’s constitutional court ruled a violation related to the case.
Both deputies were arrested within the KCK case. While Gülser Yıldırım has been jailed since 15 February 2012 in Mardin Prison and was facing up to 15 years of prison; Ibrahim Ayhan has been jailed since 1 October 2010 in Diyarbakır Prison.
Following the ruling, discharge procedures were completed and jailed deputies were released around 5 pm local time.
Yıldırım was received by a large group of family members and BDP members.
“I am feeling bitter sweet about this discharge. There are thousands of jailed people in prisons. I am not entirely happy with this,” Yıldırım said. (AS/BM)
