Social Security Institution (SGK) Tunceli Provincial Directorate has seized the salary, tax and fee accounts of Dersim Municipality.
Addressing the reporters at the statement for the press at the municipality, Dersim Mayor Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu has underlined that the assignment of the municipality's bank accounts is against the law.
Referring to the Article 15 of the Municipal Law, Maçoğlu has said, "As of December 31, 2019, our municipality owes a premium debt of 5,453,303.30 TRY to the Tunceli Provincial Directorate of Social Security. Our municipal corporation owes a premium debt of 4,761,424.20 TRY to the Tunceli Provincial Directorate of Social Security as of December 31, 2019.
"The Social Security Institution (SGK) premiums of our municipality have not been paid since May 2018. This payment was not done before we came into office. As we informed the public when we took office, we cannot do the SGK payments due to the outstanding debts.
"The article 15 of the municipal law has openly stipulated that the taxes, fees and provincial bank shares of municipalities shall not be confiscated. As the tax, fee and provincial bank shares of our municipality have been seized in violation of the law, the wages of our municipality personnel have not been paid." (RT/SD)
