Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chair Devlet Bahçeli spoke in his party's weekly Parliamentary group meeting today (November 11).
Commemorating Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey, on the occasion of his 82nd death anniversary yesterday, Bahçeli said, "I determinedly say that we neither turn our back on Sultan Abdulhamid, nor turn away from Atatürk."
MHP Chair also addressed the Presidential elections in the US. "We are neither the clappers of Biden, nor a fan of Trump," Bahçeli said and referred to the Democrats and Republicans respectively as follows:
"We neither hold the elephant from its trunk, nor do we wait in line to get on the donkey. But, everyone had better know that we are waiting in a sure-footed, cautious, prepared and suspicious manner.
"Because the statements, contacts, controversies, ebbs and flows of Biden in the past as well as his cross-eyed and cold view on Turkey have put a barrier and built a dam in the way of our optimism."
CHP and HDP targeted by Bahçeli
The Chair of the MHP, which is in the People's Alliance with the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), also criticized the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), whose leaders had congratulated Biden on his election win.

Bahçeli targeted CHP Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu by calling him "a politician who seeks legitimacy in foreign capitals, gives the message of 'Come and use me' and who is uprooted and has lost his identity."
"What we find odd is how fast, quickly, hastily and hurriedly CHP Chair congratulated Biden," he said: "Look at the HDP. It also congratulated [him] immediately. Those who put their souls on lease are obvious."
Claiming that the opposition "gave the message of 'Don't forget me'" with these congratulatory remarks addressed to Joe Biden, Devlet Bahçeli further argued that "Kılıçdaroğlu had felt the need to get in contact with his new master on social media." He asked, "How many opposition leaders around the world congratulated Biden in a hurry?"
"Today, there is no state crisis in Turkey, there is an opposition crisis, a crisis of political ethics; in the final analysis, there is a CHP crisis and it is getting more and more entrenched with each passing day." (DŞ/SD)
