Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Leader Devlet Bahçeli has said that “If AKP (Justice and Development Party) is ready for death penalty, count us in too.”
Bahçeli has supported AKP regarding arguments to bring back death penalty to Turkey in his party’s group meeting.
“We will do what is needed with inner peace. We are ready to discuss death penalty regarding coup and terrorist threat. Let’s not ruffle our democracy even more. Let’s not be played, not fall into trap.
“This place is not Iraq, Syria, Tunisia or Libya. This country is Republic of Turkey and this nation is Turkish nation. This nation has encountered many coups and coup attempts. But none of these were as harsh as July 15. This process should not be underestimated. Everyone should take lesson from it.
“Turkish nation did not give in to the coup but no one should ever serve to civil war. New interference doors should be closed. The danger has not passed yet, the crisis in economy is increasing. Terrorism will take action. We should protect this country against coup plotters. It is pleasing to see our nation looking out for the civil government.”
Gülen Community
The statement that Bahçeli made is as follows:
“It has become definite that there is a formation which abrogates the hierarchical chain in TSK (Turkish Armed Forces). It understood that Gülen community is behind this. The government has been taken over by this betrayal-oriented group. The day is not the criticism day. All words we say could be twisted.
“It is the fact that Gülen community wants to deploy in TSK. We kept mentioning it yet no one heard it. I made a written press statement and wanted a statement that says their acts have been stopped, but our party has become the target.
“I said that it is a transoceanic security threat. I said that Gülen has to come to Turkey. Now it turned out that the parallel betrayal gang’s will was to destroy everything. If somebody had paid attention to the MHP as the community was being staffed in the government in corteges, then this coup would not have happened.
People and soldiers
Why being cruel to the Mehmetçik*. Does blaming TSK as a whole gain anything to anybody? Let’s not be cruel to the Mehmetçik. How do we maintain this country's security if we do so?
People and soldier should not fight each other. Soldiers should not take sides against each other. This homeland’s sala* should not be heard. No one should try to irritate idealist movement. Law should find out who to blame and what to blame. Coup plotters should not see the sunlight. (YY/UA)
*Mehmetçik: (literally: Little Mehmet ) is a general term used affectionately to refer soldiers of the Ottoman Army and Turkish Army.
