Aydınlık Daily's Editor-in-Chief İlker Yücel who was taken into custody on Saturday (June 3) in Iğdır province on the grounds that he did not publish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak's impugnment article and was later arrested, was released yesterday (June 3) after paying the penalty fine in amount of 25,300 Euro.
Yücel while leaving the prison said:
"This [the arrest] was the execution of a court decision taken in 2014 with regards to not publishing the impugnment article.
"We had challenged this sentence given by a court in which judges from FETÖ (Fethullahist Terrorist Organization) were on duty.
"The impugnment article included insults. That's why we opposed to it".
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak had brought a lawsuit against Yücel due to the article "Criminal organization record for the Minister and the rich of the AKP (Justice and Development Party). (EKN/DG)
