Austria has announced that Minister of Economics Nihat Zeybekçi was denied entry to the country planning to hold a speech in a commemoration event marking the July 15 coup attempt in 2016.
According to Reuters news agency, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Austria Thomas Schnöll announced that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sebastian Kurz had had barred Zeybekçi from entering the country and reasoned the decision for denial of entry as "a possibility to become a threat to the public order and security" and added that the event was huge.
Schnöll added that their doors were open to any contact attempt by Zeybekçi for a personal visit.
What happened?
Austria had announced that authorities from Turkey holding a rally for campaigning for the referendum on the Constitutional Amendment Package on April would not be met well in Austria.
Austria demanding the termination of negotiation talks with Turkey regarding the accession process to the European Union had drawn reactions from Turkey already.
In addition, Holland had announced that a visit by the Vice President Tuğrul Türkeş to Apeldoorn province to attend a meeting marking the July 15 coup attempt was "not desired".
Germany had also denied permission to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan holding a rally or a speech during the G20 Summit in public places. (YY/DG)
