Six Points Association of the Blind’s petition demanding household appliances be audio on change.org has received positive response.
Arçelik A.Ş. announced yesterday (June 2) in the press meeting it held with the association that it has started the production of electrical household appliances which the sight-disabled people also can use.
Solutions such as special signings, audio warnings, panel with Braille alphabet and audio user manuals will be offered in the new products.
In this way, sight-disabled individuals will be able to use the household appliances without needing the help of anybody.
Sevgi Bulut from Woman Commission of the Six Points Association of the Blind in her statement stated that, “We are sure that other major white appliance producers will take step by hearing the voice of the sigh-disabled individuals”.
Arçelik A.Ş. Vice President in Charge of Marketing, Tülin Karabük said, “We will facilitate our handicapped individuals’ lives in the largest product range from fridge to washing machine, from TV to small household appliances”.
According to TÜİK Population and Housing Research in 2011, 1.4% of the population is handicapped. 70,000 people had signed the petition on change.org. (NV/TK)
