"What are they being charged with?"
"It is now the fourth day of the detention of our clients Ahmet Altan and Mehmet Altan.
"We have no idea of what our clients are being charged with. Furthermore, no information has been shared with us about their medical condition".
"Subliminal message"
Ahmet Altan and Mehmet Altan were detained for the words they used on the program "Özgür Düşünce" broadcasted on Can Erzincan TV on July 14
It was alleged that Ahmet Altan and Mehmet Altan used phrases with Nazlı Ilıcak, who has been arrested as part of the "FETÖ (Fethullahist Terror Organization) investigation" giving the impression that they already knew about the coup.
In response to this allegation, the statement said "Subliminal messages are designed to remain below the limits of human perception and be not noticed.
"At this point, let alone recalling a tragic subject such as 'coup', it is not scientific or technically possible to recall any subject by a subliminal message".
The statement added that the detention process violates their right to security and freedom, which is guaranteed by Clause 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and Clause 19 of the Constitution. (EKN/TK)
