The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) was in Kulu district in Turkey's central Anatolian Konya province as part of its "We are from the HDP, we are everywhere" program yesterday (August 11). HDP Spokesperson Ebru Günay, accompanied by the HDP Central Executive Board and Party Assembly members, visited the shopkeepers in the district.
As reported by Mezopotamya Agency (MA), Günay held a speech at the meeting in the HDP Kulu District Organization building.
Referring to the attacks on Kurds in Turkey, Ebru Günay said, "The perpetrators are not brought to account before the law. On the contrary, they are protected as 'good kids' by the authorities of this country. We know it very well that this government is hostile to Kurds."
Stressing the importance of "proceeding and organizing by showing that we are a whole with Turks, Kurds, Alevis and Sunnis", Günay added:
"The attack on our party started with the Kobanî plot case. However, today, while we were visiting Kulu, we realized that it would not be easy to close the HDP. We did not keep our work limited between the walls, our working area is everywhere where there are workers, our working area is the gardens, vineyards, streets and factories where women labor. We will keep on struggling and being together under all circumstances."
MP from Germany visited the HDP
Nils Schmid, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) Parliamentary Group Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs in Germany's Bundestag, also paid a visit of solidarity to the HDP İzmir Provincial Organization.
As reported by Mezopotamya Agency (MA), Schmid was welcomed by HDP İzmir MP Serpil Kemalbay, HDP İzmir Co-Chairs Besriye Tekgür and Kadri Baydur as well as the party executives.
Nils Schmid said that they are always in solidarity with the ones waging their political struggle in a peaceful manner. Tekgür and Baydur said that the visit of solidarity is important for the peoples. Referring to the armed attack that claimed the life of HDP's Deniz Poyraz inside the HDP İzmir Office on June 17, Kemalbay also said, "With the massacre, a message was given not only to the HDP, but to the peoples of Turkey."
