An attack was launched this morning (April 3) on police units in Mersin province.
Two police were injured in the assault.
The attack took place at around 7:30 a.m. at Tece Intersection in Mezitli district, Doğan News Agency reported. A person on a vehicle threw an explosive at a police vehicle that was on duty on the intersection and ran away.
The wounded police officers were taken into Mersin University Medical Faculty Hospital.
Provincial Security Director Mehmet Şahne said the attack was carried out against the public order police, and that the assault was undertaken with an improvised explosive device.
Şahne added that the police are in good health and receiving treatment at the hospital, and that an operation was commenced to capture the assailants. (EKN/TK)
